Interest in making a Cantonese cinema page

[edit]

Hello there,

Looking at your passionate sourced editing for pages relating to the Cantonese nation, I was wondering if you'd be interested in making a page about Cantonese cinema (in the Cantonese language and other languages, a section about overseas Cantonese cinema, with short sections as well with redirects for Hong Kong and Macau since they have their own pages on the subject)? I'm especially interested if there is an animation scene in Guangdong and Guangxi. I can't read or speak cantonese so I'm not sure I'd be of much help.

Also, I've read your user page intro and I'm worried a bit the image of yourself you present could harm yourself and ultimately your cause. Remember that we're all Wikipedians, regardless of our sometimes misguided views, so rude language about silencing others could get you in trouble and just be unworthy of you, just saying so your editing experience can be as smooth as possible. We change our minds better with a chill endeavor and rationally bullet-proof argument fully in accordance with the rules of Wikipedia and the very logic of those presently disagreeing with you, so you'd help others change their mind by being so.

Have a great day, hoping to hear back from you soon. 70.52.61.57 (talk) 20:53, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. Sure. Rude language about silencing others definitely should not be encouraged, I fully support that sentiment, and I definitely not going to do that here, as I'm not one of those people afterall; but with that being said, if "rude language" is not okay, then is "polite language about silencing others" okay? I'm not saying that I would be the one who's gonna do that, but you have to understand that if we were to translate the Chinese version that's published on the Chinese Wikipedia before the deletion proposal in November 2023, the content would be just as long (minus a few incidents that won't happen after November 2023, of course), anyone with a functioning body, a functioning eyesight and a functioning Internet connection can confirm that with little to no effort; and also, an Expand Language template requesting a translation from the Chinese version is added in October of the same year, which one would have even less excuses to not see that, since it's on the top of the same page; yet they still insisted on deleting the article, citing a deletion proposal on the Chinese version which is not only already two years old (it was in 2021) when their proposal in 2023 happened but also was on a version that is once again just as lengthy and minus all the incidents that happened after 2021. And it's not just on that one article as well - similar biased censorship carried out by Chinese (or at least pro-China) users under the name of enforcing Wikipedia rules happened on other pages related to separatism as well. So let me ask you again. "Rude language" is of course not okay; but is this kind of censorship really okay to you, as long as it's in "polite language"?
Speaking about gaining support - although I really hope that I won't have to do the same rant elsewhere on this website (I suppose Wikipedia rules don't really allow that anyway), but let's say if I insisted on leaving that in, what would be the outcome of this other than my account being banned (it could be, it could be not)? People will know that I'm not talking about them, unless they are the ones I'm talking about - how much potential supporters can I really lose? Think about it. Is it those people that I would lose as potential supporters, those who, despite not having a truly convincing reason, are going to silence us under the name of enforcing Wikipedia rules anyway? Or is it people like you that I would lose, who in a sense really don't have any business with it at all?
As for the cinema and animation bit, I regret to tell you that I'm not well-versed enough to help, and honestly I'm not interested in cinema in general anyway. I would suggest you to look for help elsewhere. FCAC2024 (talk) 22:16, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, rude language or polite desire to silence others is bad, both together are twice as bad, hence why one should lead by exemple by being neither. Calling other points of view "pathetic opinions that doesn't matter" is not really nice or encouraging the opposite of the censorship you criticize. "Be aware for your life as we try everything we can to take back what should rightfully be ours." is outright a death threat in its present formulation toward those with opposing views, really really intimidating and, frankly, uncool and unworthy of you as you yourself said, please change it, you're better than death treats. Not only do those make you look bad, but the whole movement I suppose you take part in look bad as well. I have seen nothing about censorship or pro-china about Crab's intervention with that account, quite the opposite, very unfair given how kind they were in spite of the circumstances and how they were preseving sources that had quite the anti-CCP views about Diantnam/Yunnan. This Crab user even reverted acts of sabotage of accounts removing chinese independence movements. I just don't get how your criticisms apply here.
I do not really understand what you were trying to say in that second paragraph. Was simply saying to lead in exemple by being kind and rational and people will be more receptive than if one wasn't so. And yes, as a member of a stateless nation caring about others as such who contributed multiple times to Cantonese subjects under multiple IP addresses (even added Cantonese nationalism in the template for Guangdong), it is my business too, don't feel really welcomed with that one.
Too bad it doesn't interest you, I just really wish we could expend the current list of articles about the Cantonese nation with the arts. Doesn't have to be cinema, can be video games, comic books, television, painting, music, sculpture, litterature, scene arts (dancing, stage plays, miming, puppetry etc.). Can even be about Cantonese sports or martial arts. Is there really nothing about those that interest you? 70.52.61.57 (talk) 05:23, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Jesus Christ. I'm not talking about Crab2814, I'm talking about CA148. There have been a constant effort to downplay and censor us and people they don't like from pro-Beijing accounts, and now you're saying that me, on my own user page, is too intimidating and could harm other people and is the issue here. Jesus Christ.
I'll contribute to other topics as I see fit, but I don't think we'll be talking for now. FCAC2024 (talk) 06:39, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, sorry, I didn't know, how could I have guessed? I thought with the naming similarities, CA was you, how can you blame me? I know what you're talking about, there have been similar pro-Canada accounts that did the same thing to me, you know? I only wanted to have a user with great contributions like you not getting a bad experience here, that's all. It's not THE issue, that's not what I said. It was to help you as when I stopped being like that, not out of ill will mind you, I actually managed to change things and convince people on the french wikipedia about the subject, I thought it could do the same for you and help your cause, that's all.
Sorry to have killed off your interest and goodwill to help with my project. I take the blame. You know the wonderful Cantonese language I'll never get to know, I love learning about your nation, I only wished to learn more and help others learn more. Hope you still will get a wonderful day :( 70.52.61.57 (talk) 15:51, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for being this harsh; doing this kind of business really doesn't give you the best temper in the world yknow. As for the thing you were asking for, I'll definitely see if I can help if I have the time. FCAC2024 (talk) 16:17, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
